Recently I went to a conference on world peace and within the next day or two, I wrote these new words to the tune of the hymn, “Be Thou My Vision.”

Prayer for Living My Days

Time marches forward from day unto day,
I spend my moments in so many ways,
Help me to balance the hours that I live,
Guide me in reaching out to love and to give.
—
One day I was born and then one day I’ll die,
Years pass between and the truth there does lie,
How I respond to God calling me to make peace,
How I repair the world in my days and my weeks.
—
When doubt overwhelms me, give strength to my heart,
Help me be faithful and make a new start,
God give me wisdom to transform the strife,
God give me courage to live all of my life.
