291. Easter Is Past

Easter is past.

The resurrection has happened.

—

Did you ever experience a significant death

and then wonder about the world

going on the next day as if nothing had happened.

—

Doesn’t it seem like that should be true

of Easter Sunday too?

—

He was crucified—this Jesus of Nazareth.

He was buried—this Galilean.

And now you say that he has risen!

—

Shouldn’t everything

stop each year

about this time?

—

Shouldn’t we gather together

as disciples and discuss how we’re doing—

or better still shouldn’t we just

be doing better as disciples?

—

The resurrection has happened

so for goodness sakes

and for the sake of goodness

let’s live a little differently.

—
